"Why would he be crying about a storm?"
~Unknown

The great beast moved toward Lori after crushing the lighthouse under its weight. Lori screamed and shot at it but the bullets did nothing but annoy the beast.

"Get away from her!" McArthur screamed at the terrifying beast before him.

"Get away! I'll be fine! Save yourself!" Lori screamed.

Leroy was picked up by the gigantic beast and torn to shreds. His ghastly screams echoed in McArthur's ears. McArthur turned pale and couldn't move.

"Fuck, fuck, fuck!" McArthur screamed.

The beast grabbed Lori and squeezed her. McArthur could hear her ribs shattering as the beast held her tighter.

"What do you want!" McArthur screamed.

"William. . . McArthur, I want you," the beast hissed.

"Why!?" McArthur screamed.

"Because you have something I desire!" the beast's tentacles wrapped around McArthur and hoisted him up into the air.

McArthur squirmed in pain and screamed.

McArthur woke up and fell out of bed. Lori and Leroy rushed into his room.

"What's the matter?" Lori asked.

"Just a bad dream," McArthur struggled to catch his breath.

"Do you think it was your past? Because you know, you can't remember much of anything anymore," Leroy asked.

"I'm not sure, but I don't think so, because both of you were there," McArthur replied.

"What happened to us?" Leroy asked.

McArthur turned his head, "I don't want to talk about it," he sighed.

Lori looked down at McArthur's trinket.

"Hey, isn't there one diamond missing?" Lori asked.

"I guess it broke when we fought that demon," McArthur shrugged.

"That brings up something actually McArthur," Leroy smiled.

"What is it?" he looked at Leroy.

"Well, you seem to be a Blood Born, but they vanished centuries ago, the last recorded ones existed in the 1900's but they didn't seem to have children," Leroy looked at him and then turned his head to the sky, "I guess you wouldn't know anyway would you," Leroy looked off.

"I'm sorry, but if I actually am one of these Blood Borns, what am I exactly?" McArthur asked.

"You see, Blood Borns were very feared hunters. They had the ability to use some sort of magic to vanquish their foes. Most of them could absorb the monster afterward and use their powers at their own will. Yet as Leroy stated before, they've been gone for quite some time and there isn't much evidence to back up that, so it remains a myth," Lori sighed.

McArthur stared at his hands. He looked at Lori and Leroy.

"So, you're telling me, I could be this Blood Born you speak of?" he shuttered.

"Yes, it's a great power, but if the legends are true, monsters and ghosts can sense your great spiritual energy, so you'll be more bound to be attacked," Lori sighed.

"Only exception is, your powers seem to be sealed off, that's why I nor the demon could sense your great power," Leroy smiled at McArthur.

"So what am I to do?" McArthur looked at them.

"Help us, you have a great power, and I think the more you fight monsters the more you'll remember your true identity, it's worth a try," Lori extended her hand and placed it on his shoulder.

"Of course," McArthur smiled but still remembered his dream.

"You seem unsure," Lori looked at him.

"I just don't want to put either of you in danger," McArthur looked down.

"We put ourselves in danger enough as it is, you won't put us in anymore danger than we already are in," Leroy smiled.

Lori leaned over the bed and moved McArthur's hair out of his face.

"We'll be fine, don't be such a loser," she smiled.

Lori walked out of the room and closed the door.

McArthur laid in his bed alone and looked at his palms and his trinket.

"Shit, what am I going to do? I feel so powerful yet so helpless," he sighed.

He held his head in his hands and tried to focus on his blurry memory. Nothing came to him but a dark figure walking toward him. Although he was scared the figure made him feel calm. That was the last thing he remembered before waking up on the shore of Santa Monica.

"Who am I? Where am I from? Why can't I remember?" he sighed in despair.

Lori heard his words through the door and looked at Leroy.

"He's just having a hard time," Leroy comforted Lori.

"I know but, I don't know, I hope he's okay," Lori whispered.

"You care about him a lot, don't you?" Leroy whispered.

Lori shook her head.

"All I care about is business, I can't have petty love getting in the way of my goal," she looked at Leroy.

"Yea, I know," Leroy smiled.

Lori walked away from his door and walked back to her room. She took out a picture from under her pillow and stroked it gently.

"I'll avenge you, I'll find the demon and kill it," she sighed and began to cry.
A young man is washed up on shore of beautiful Santa Monica. He is rescued by a young girl by the name of Lori and her companion Leroy. In a world full of demons and monsters she swears to protect the innocent.
